I want to take this opportunity to thank Doris for the beautiful blanket that she made for cancer patients. I am now the owner of that gorgeous blanket and it means the world to me. I recently underwent extensive surgery (termed “The Whipple”) at The James for late stage pancreatic cancer. I am 79 years of age and consider myself to be a walking miracle. I recovered from the surgery surprisingly well and my surgeon told me that I am cancer free although I am going thru chemotherapy at this time and for the next few months as a precautionary measure. On my last treatment in Celina, I was so cold that I just couldn’t seem to get warm. That is when I saw the blanket on top of the stack and helped myself to it. I actually felt guilty in many ways but the blanket has proved to be a godsend and it accompanies me on each and every treatment day. Doris, thank you from the bottom of my heart for kindness and generosity. Kudos as well to all of the ladies who are involved in making blankets. I cannot adequately express how your unselfish efforts and talents have impacted my life. God bless you all!
