Bus Grants for BMA Field Trips
The Bicycle Museum of America (BMA) and the New Bremen Foundation have partnered to create a beta program that will allow school’s to apply for transportation grants to visit the BMA and other local attractions. Many schools while interested in visiting the BMA cannot afford to bus students for the field trip. Becky Macwhinney, the BMA coordinator, will make grant recommendations to the foundation regarding the transportation grants through her interaction with interested schools. She is also developing a curriculum surrounding the field trips to incorporate Common CORE standards, STEM and other relevant grade-specific information. She hopes to create a program that begins at school before the field trip and ends with an in-class follow up after the students’ visit to BMA. If the program is successful this school year, the Foundation will work with the BMA to set up a long-term fund for transportation grants.
